NHS Eye Exam (OCT scan optional)

Provided at no charge to UK permanent residents.

It is helpful if you bring any glasses you currently wear and a list of medication you take, thank you. If aged 60 years or more, this will include drops to dilate the pupils, in which case you will not be able to drive after the appointment for between 2-6 hours and may wish to wear sunglasses afterwards.

OCT scans are available for £30 and are recommended for people aged 40+, or with a family history of glaucoma or macular conditions. An OCT scan provides an image and analysis of the deeper layers of the macula and of the retinal nerve layers, allowing earlier detection of some eye diseases.
